Sports and Clubs at TMS under Pay-To-Play 2010-2012 (tentative)

The Pay for Play system instituted by the BOE for the 2010-2012 year has required some changes in how we execute Sports here at the Middle School. The process for getting a Sports team underway will involve the following steps:

  • Step 1: Parents fill out nurse's Athletic Permission and Physical Forms and turn it into the nurse's office before the first tryout.
  • Step 2: A letter is generated to the parents of students who make the team requesting
    • a) the $125.00 pay for play base amount, plus the
    • b) additional amount necessary to run the sport per athlete.
  • Step 3: A final team list is generated. Final payment is collected. Superintendent/BOE approves sport to begin.
  • Step 4: Sport "officially" begins..

If a group wants to fundraise, and provide a sum of money to the school to offset the "approximate additional amount" per player listed above, they can contact me (Principal Willett) by phone at 860-870-6860 extension 1 so that we can make arrangements for a check to be provided to the TMS SAA account for this purpose. If the sport does not run due to lack of interest, a check with the donated amount will be returned to the organization or individual that provided it.

If you have questions, please call me (Principal Willett) at the school at 860-870-6860, extension 1.
